Description of Ministry of Justice Academy

The Ministry of Justice Academy (MOJ Academy) was established in December 2018. The present space it occupies was commissioned on the 15th January 2019 by His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi. The MOJ Academy is situated within the Ministry of Justice New Secretariat phase III. The Academy can be accessed from the main entrance of the secretariat complex. A right hand turn inside the building will lead you to the Justice  Academy. The academy is 80 seater capacity with state of the art furniture. The academy is connected to the internet which is user friendly.  It is fully air conditioned to make learning ambience possible.

It is important to say that in order to educate public effectively, there is need for the officers working in the Ministry to get educated. This is why there is established a Ministry of Justice Academy, the first of its kind in Nigeria. The idea behind the academy is to provide lawyers with sufficient skills and knowledge to enable lawyers to respond to emerging law and justice concerns.

A digital projector is equally provided to project to a foldable screen for clear visual enhancements effect. In alternative to digital presentation, there is available at the Academy a large sized white board for physical demonstration of ideas in writings.  A visit to the academy will showcase a reflection of a modern academic environment that is arguably seen in western geography.

Function of the Academy

The Ministry of Justice Academy, upon establishment in 2018 was saddled with the mandate of providing window of opportunity to research, train and create opportunity to develop professional capacity of lawyers and non lawyers in Ekiti Sate. The academy is opened to do and conduct trainings, symposia, colloquium, seminars and high powerful meeting and gathering to mention a few.


Since its establishment, the following activities have been conducted and also the academy has participated in the following:

Training on the use of Electronic Law Reporting. Facilitator: Law Pavilion.

Lecture on Administration of Civil Justice Bill. Facilitator: Civil Litigation Dept.

1st Quarterly meeting with DPP and Police Prosecutors. Facilitator-DPP

Training of Legal Research and Methodology. Presented by Prof . I.O. Babatunde.(Chairman, Governing Board of MOJ Academy)

Lagos study Tour- Mirabal centre, Lagos DNA & Forensic Centre. Facilitator: Ministry of Justice Academy.
