Ekiti State Ministry of Justice has felicitated with Counsel, Abigail Aladejare and Adetutu Oluwaseyi as they emerge as the Vice-Chair and Publicity Secretary respectively at the NBA Ado-Ekiti Branch Elections yesterday 16 June 2020.
Adetutu is an Assistant Chief Legal Officer in the department of Civil Litigation where she has gathered extensive experience in providing legal advisory to government entities in diverse projects; drafting and reviewing legislative bills; providing technical supports in commercial arrangements and implementation of government policies; representing the government in public interest based matters and civil causes; ensuring compliance with regulatory framework; and creating advocacy on specific legal services to the public. She has worked in other capacities including, as Legal Adviser to the Ekiti State Pension Commission and Legal Assistant to the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
She is a research fellow of the China-Africa Legal Research Centre at the Beijing Foreign Studies University, a Member of the International Bar Association (IBA), New York Bar Association (NYSBA) and Society of International Economic Law (SIEL).
She also volunteers as the General-Secretary of the Postgraduate Law Council at the University of Cape Town and a Programme Mentor on the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme.
Adetutu is currently a Doctoral Researcher at the Centre for Comparative Law in Africa (CCLA) University of Cape Town, South Africa.
Abigail is a legal practitioner with 11 years post call experience with special interest in ADR and litigation bordering on civil and commercial matters. She has worked as a seasoned mediator with 3 years experience at the Citizens’ Rights Department and Office of the Public Defenders in the Ministry of Justice and She is presently a Principal Legal Officer in the Department of Civil Litigation . Her core expertise ranges from contract, tenancy disputes, marital disputes, child custody and chieftaincy matters. She is the State House Counsel, Ekiti State Government.
Abigail is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administration of Nigeria; Associate of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators of Nigeria and also a member of the Training Faculty of the Institute.
In her spare time, she works as an active member of Federacion Internacional de Abogadas (FIDA), where she has been involved in fighting for the rights of Women and Children through legal representation and social welfare.
She holds a Masters’ degree in Peace and Security Studies at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti and she is an expert in conflict resolution and international dispute management. She is the State House Counsel with Ekiti State Government.
